Hello Mae Hensley Families,

It has been amazing getting to know our new 7th grade Warriors and welcoming back our 8th graders. This time of year, we are in the full swing of things and are focusing on learning every day.

While progress reports went out last month, the most up-to-date view of your student's grades is always available through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, and we encourage families to check it regularly rather than waiting for the next report. Each family will need a unique activation code specific to their student to set up portal access, which we'll be sending out via ParentSquare—please watch for it and reach out to the office if you don't receive yours. If you have questions about a specific grade or assignment once you're in the portal, your student's teacher is the best point of contact for details.

We also want to remind students of two simple daily habits that make a big difference in the classroom: bringing a fully charged Chromebook and at least one pencil, every single day. These aren't small things—when a student shows up without them, it costs valuable instructional time and can throw off the flow of the lesson for everyone. Thank you for helping reinforce these expectations at home. A quick nightly check of the backpack goes a long way toward a smooth start to the school day.

October: A Month of Awareness and Kindness

This October, our school recognizes both National Bullying Prevention Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We're taking time to reflect on kindness and respect, and the importance of recognizing, reporting, and standing up against bullying. We encourage families to reinforce these conversations at home.

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to honor those affected and promote the importance of early detection. You may see our community wearing pink in support. Let's make this month one of compassion, for one another and for those facing health challenges.

CUSD College & Career Family Night

We are excited to invite all parents, guardians, and families to our Annual District-Wide College and Career Night! This special event will provide valuable information and resources to help students explore their future pathways, whether it’s college, career, or vocational opportunities. Families will have the chance to connect with college representatives, career professionals, and community organizations. We encourage you to join us and take part in this important evening of learning, networking, and inspiration as we work together to prepare our students for success.

CUSD Reads! Program Returns October 1st

Starting October 1, Warriors can read or listen to any book they choose, then submit a short review through ClassLink. Graphic novels, audiobooks, e-books, fiction, nonfiction—it all counts! Every review earns Minga points that can be redeemed for a fun event at the end of the semester, plus each review is an entry into the year-end drawing for a bookstore shopping spree with Dr. Peterman!
